Hatfields at Mountainlair

Sodexo Construction, Inc. retained Dembling+ Dembling Architects, P.C. to develop and implement a new dining concept at Hatfields in the Mountainlair Student Union.
DDA was the prime consultant providing architectural and food service design as well as coordinating structural, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical design consultants.
The renovation involved a total area of approximately 9,700 square feet. The space was transitioned from retail to a residential dining hall and included complete renovation of the serving and seating areas and included expansion of dining concepts with several new action stations. The space was expanded to increase the seating capacity by approximately 15 percent. A new dish return accumulator and dishwashing area was provided within the space to eliminate the need to transport dishware to the basement level for washing.
The project was completed within a 3-month construction schedule and below budget.
