Dembling + Dembling Architects, P.C. (DDA) is one of seven consultants working on the rehabilitation of the Alfred E. SmithState Office Building with Wank Adams Slavin Associates (WASA).  Originally built between 1926 and 1930 this Art Deco style building houses several state agencies.

After 70 years of continuous use and some alterations this state office building, part of the downtown Albany Capitol complex called Empire State Plaza is ready for a complete overhaul.  Every component of the building, including the structure, mechanical/electrical systems, elevators and telecommunications is to be updated to meet the occupancy demands of the new century.

DDA completed the first part of the project by extensively documenting the existing conditions of the interior of the building.  In addition DDA also monitored the probing of the existing structure and testing of the mechanical systems.  This information was used for the development of design.

DDA has completed a portion of the Construction Documents and oversaw the Construction Administration.  Construction was completed in 2006.
